A silver medal and 3 certificates of appreciation for Syria in the Asian Mathematical Olympiad

Damascus (ST): Students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad won a silver medal and 3 certificates of appreciation in the 2022 Asian Mathematical Olympiad, which was organized remotely by Indonesia with the participation of 35 countries from Asia and the Pacific.

 

The Excellence and Creativity Commission stated, in a statement that the silver medal was won by the student, Muhammad Ali Abdullah Houriya, from the second grade of secondary school, Al-Saada Private School in Damascus. Antoine Seif Askar from the second grade of secondary school, Al-Shaheed Fahim Muhammad School in Tartous, and Muadh Abbas Bahlawan from the third grade of secondary school, Al-Basel School for Outstanding Students in Aleppo.

The Commission indicated that the tests, which lasted for 4 continuous hours, included 5 issues in the basic mathematics axes “number theory, geometry, harmonic analysis and algebra,” indicating that with this result, Syria advanced two ranks in the ranking of the participating countries and moved from the 28th to the 26th place.
