Tehran (ST): The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the seizure of a quantity of weapons and ammunition in West Azerbaijan Province, which were to be used to commit killings during the riots.

The Revolutionary Guards said in a statement, “A shipment of weapons and ammunition, including a notable number of American-made firearms and Winchester pistols, was discovered and seized in the city of Mahabad in West Azerbaijan province, northwest of Iran. Opportunistic agents and violators of the country’s security intended to distribute them among the rioters to set up killing operations  and also transfer some weapons to the central provinces of the country.”

Yesterday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard revealed the dismantling of a subversive terrorist cell in Khuzestan, backed and directed by a European country, before carrying out any operation, pointing out that the members of the cell who were arrested were planning to assassinate a number of citizens and personalities and repeat the scenario of killing and provoking riots.
