A session of in-depth Syrian-Russian talks in Moscow deals with various sectors… Expanding economic and trade cooperation and boosting investments

A session of Syrian-Russian talks was held in Moscow today. The session was chaired by the Chairman of the Joint Syrian-Russian Committee, Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidency Affairs, and Eric Fezulin, Minister of Construction, Housing and Public Utilities.

The in-depth discussions dealt with an assessment of the reality of economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields and sectors. The two sides reviewed trade exchange at the level of both the public and private sectors, and possible ways to increase the volume of this exchange in line with the desire and direction of those in charge of economic activities on both sides in light of the successive successes that have been reached in terms of linking the markets of the two countries. Emphasis has been made on the difficulties and challenges, whether internal, administrative, regulatory, and legal, or external ones related to the unjust and unilateral measures imposed on both countries.

The two sides discussed joint customs and tax arrangements and facilities taken by the two sides to simplify trade exchange procedures and increase economic feasibility for all concerned parties. The discussions focused on joint efforts to invest in the energy file, whether with regard to the oil and gas sector, or with regard to the electricity sector, where the current investment reality in energy projects was assessed, some of which entered production recently, while a number of others are being prepared to be put into service soon, which will contribute In improving the indicators of this sector, and enhancing its productivity and the productivity of other related sectors, especially the domestic, agricultural and industrial sectors.

During the talks session, cooperation in the agricultural and industrial fields was also discussed, as several Russian companies expressed interest in entering the agricultural investment market, in both its plant and animal parts, as well as in the agricultural industries sector, especially in the field of fertilizer industry, by making use of the raw materials available in Syria such as the phosphate ores.

The health and education sectors also enjoyed an ample space of discussions, especially the follow-up of procedures for regulating cooperation through agreements and protocols that are being finalized in preparation, which allows for the exchange of health and medical products such as medicine and equipment that enjoy a high degree of reliability and effectiveness.
