Damascus-SANA (ST): As part of the activities of the national campaign to raise awareness to the importance of early detection of breast cancer, the Family Planning Association, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, held a scientific day entitled “Breast Lesions” in the hall of John of Damascus Church in Abu Rummaneh.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Family Planning Association, Dr. Hazar Miqdad, stressed the importance of the awareness month “October”, which is known globally as the pink month to introduce everything related to breast cancer, methods of treatment and prevention, as it is the most common among women, pointing to the efforts of the association that have been made over the years in order to pay attention to the reproductive health of women, and early detection of this disease.
The resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Hamir Abdel-Ghani, explained that the Fund continues in partnership with the ministries of health, education and scientific research and associations to raise awareness to breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and access to quality medical and treatment services.
The lectures during the scientific day focused on recent scientific developments about breast cancer, calcifications that affect the breast, radiographic diagnosis of healthy and malignant breast lesions and how to treat and follow-up on breast tumors.
