A Russian parliamentarian stresses the importance of the People’s Assembly elections in Syria

Moscow, (ST) – The coordinator of the parliamentary group in the Russian State Duma with the People’s Assembly, Dmitriy Sablein, stressed the importance of the Syrian People’s Assembly elections, because these elections are evidence of  Syria’s well being and of the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Sablein said in a statement to RIA Novosti Agency that these elections are taking place under complicated circumstances due to the sanctions imposed by the United States on Syria, especially the so-called “Caesar Act”, pointing to the presence of many new candidates and young people who have defended their homeland with arms and will work for a change for the better.

 

Sablein pointed out that there is another characteristic of these elections – that is in the democratic nature of the process of selecting the candidates, stressing that Russia was and still is taking a position of respect for the special features and traditions of its partner countries, confirming that the state has been preserved in Syria and it is working on holding periodic elections according the country’s constitution
