A Russian delegation visits the Eye Diseases Division at Tishreen University Hospital, and another reviews the teaching process at Tishreen University in Lattakia

Within the framework of the work of the Fifth Syrian-Russian Joint Meeting to Follow-up on the International Conference on the Return of Syrian Refugees and Displaced Persons, the delegation of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the Russian Federation headed by Deputy Governor Peter Pannikov visited today Tishreen University Hospital in Lattakia to see the rehabilitation and training courses conducted by Russian doctors specializing in eye surgery for Syrian doctors and students, within the framework of joint medical cooperation.

Pannikov stated that the purpose of the visit was to see the reality of work in the Department of Eye Diseases and Surgery, expressing his admiration for the hospital and the excellent care it provides to patients, noting the capabilities of Syrian doctors and students and their eagerness to learn and study.

The head of the eye department at the hospital, Dr. Tayem Darwish, explained that the delegation gave some lectures on artificial lenses and implants, with the aim of exchanging information and educating resident doctors on new techniques.

Head of the Department of Eye Diseases and Surgery at Tishreen University, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Ragab, indicated that the delegation of Russian doctors gave theoretical lectures and conducted a practical training session on animal eyes, phaco surgery and corneal surgery, hoping that this step would be followed by similar initiatives within the framework of continuous medical cooperation and benefiting from new practical experiences. .

In turn, the head of the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation, Dr. Fadi Isani, stated that the medical delegation consists of 12 doctors specialized in the field of ophthalmology and surgery, and this visit is the beginning of a series of cooperation.

Dr. Dmitry Medvedev from the Russian delegation expressed his happiness to exchange information with Syrian doctors and students, and to provide expertise in the field of ophthalmology and surgery, describing the meeting as useful and fruitful. Doctor Peter Eggerich, a specialist in compensation operations, agreed with him,and expressed his thanks and respect to the Syrian doctors, for giving him this opportunity to come to Syria and exchange experience with them.

A Russian academic delegation representing Russian universities in Nizhny Novgorod has been briefed today on the reality of the teaching process in a number of Tishreen University faculties and discussed with the deans there prospects of cooperation between the two sides.

Following a tour of the laboratories of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Konstantin Kimayev, Vice Dean of Lubachevsky University for Foreign Affairs, said that the cooperation agreement with Tishreen University will be expanded to include more specializations, and there is a common interest in the field of nanotechnology, which has a significant impact in the field of building materials as new construction can have a high economic return and distinctive uses in construction engineering, and this cooperation will not be limited only to nanotechnology, but will extend to other biological and physical technologies.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Civil Engineering, Dr. Jamal Omran, expressed his hope that cooperation with Russian universities would be at the highest level to create a state of continuous scientific cooperation between the two sides, pointing out that he discussed with the Russian side issues of high future interest, such as nanotechnology and nuclear technologies that can be used in various fields of civil engineering.
