A reception ceremony on the occasion of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus held a reception this evening on the occasion of Pakistan’s 85th National Day at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy in Damascus, Mr. Umar Hayat Khan, emphasized in his speech the deep and friendly Pakistani-Syrian relations.
He noted that Pakistan established diplomatic ties with Syria just one year after its independence, and these relations have continued with the same warmth to this day, encompassing cooperation in all fields.
The Chargé d’Affaires said “The two countries share religious, historical, and cultural ties, and with each passing day, bilateral relations deepen due to the convergence of interests on all levels.
” I am confident that the new Syrian leadership will overcome all challenges and make Syria a prosperous and democratic state.” he said
He reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for the people of Palestine, who continue their struggle for self-determination, stressing that Pakistan urges the international community to take immediate and decisive steps to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, allowing the Palestinian people to determine their own future.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Dr. Mohammad Taha Al-Ahmad, expressed Syria’s best wishes for Pakistan’s prosperity, progress, and success in his speech during the reception. He also extended his greetings to the Pakistani people on the occasion of their National Day.
Minister Al-Ahmad highlighted that the current government is working to build a new Syria and establish balanced relations with friendly and brotherly nations, ensuring the interests of the Syrian people, who have suffered from the horrors of war, displacement, and destruction in recent years.
He also emphasized the importance of building a strong economic foundation, including a revival of the agricultural sector with the support and participation of Pakistan, benefiting from its advancements in agricultural technologies.
