A plane carrying Syrians stuck abroad arrives at Damascus International Airport from Egypt

A Syrian plane carrying 232 Syrians who were stuck abroad arrived this  afternoon at Damascus International Airport from Cairo Airport, in implementation of the decisions of the government team concerned with procedures to tackle the Coronavirus.

The Ministry of Transport stated that the plane that arrived from Cairo Airport to Damascus International Airport was carrying 218 passengers and 14 infants.

Head of Damascus Health Directorate Dr. Hazar Raef said that special busses would transfer the passengers of the plane to the two quarantine centers at Damascus International Airport Hotel and Basil Al-Assad Campus in Damascus University, where they will stay for 14 days to ensure that they are not infected with the Coronavirus.

“The two quarantine centers were well equipped with the necessary accommodation requirements and with a medical team which will offer  24-hour medical care”, Dr. Raef added.

The medical team working in the health center at Damascus International Airport measured the temperature of all passengers as they disembarked from the plane and was briefed on their medical formulary to offer the health care necessary for the passengers infected with chronic diseases.

Before the plane took off from Cairo Airport, the charge d’affaires of the Syrian Arab Republic in Egypt, Dr. Bassam Darwish, told SANA correspondent that today’s trip comes to return the first batch of Syrians stuck in Egypt who have registered their names at the embassy and who want to return to the homeland. He indicated that the Syrian government seeks to take care of the interests of the Syrians who are outside the homeland and to overcome obstacles facing their safe return to Syria.

The government team has recently authorized the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Interior, Health, and Transportation to study the reality of the Syrian citizens stuck abroad and to set controls and criteria for their coming back through taking safety and health measures, and imposing a 14-day compulsory quarantine for the arrivals without any exceptions regarding the quarantine decision.

A plane carrying 251 Syrians stuck abroad arrived on last Monday from Sharjah Airport in the United Arab Emirates to Damascus International Airport on Monday, in implementation of the decisions of the government team concerned with procedures to tackle the Corona virus.

The plane’s passengers were received at a quarantine center in Sahara complex in Damascus countryside.
