Artist Muhammad S. Hammoud held his 10th solo exhibition under the title “a Painting and a Sculpture” at Abu Rummaneh Cultural Center in Damascus.
The exhibition, which was held in mid July, showcased a collection of paintings and sculptures which were inspired by life.
The artist told Syriatimes that his works presented a new idea, represented by creating twinship between a sculpture and a painting in his own style, which took him three years of work to spread aesthetic values.
The ideas of his sculptures and paintings are inspired from reality and his inner ideas and his wooden sculptures depict marine animals and birds.
“I showcased in this event 26 paintings and 26 sculptures of the same thing, making twinship between painting and sculpture,” Hammoud said.
“This style of art is new and I see that a talent is from God and art is a message. The artist should deliver and spread this message. Our duty as artists is to spread the universal value to people with all love,” he said.
“The idea is to draw a painting for each sculpture as a proof that each of the painting and the sculpture prove the value of the other.
“I painted my topics in an easy and comfortable style for the recipient, using the Expressionist and Abstract schools using oil colors,” the artist said.
The sculptures were made from oak and olive wood. Each sculpture symbolizes an idea, message, or symbol, the artist added, pointing out that he created his first sculpture in 1969.
In turn, Mrs. Naima Suliman, the director of Damascus Culture told Syriatimes that “we aimed to shed light on this new kind of exhibitions which includes a new idea that depends on the connection between the painting and the sculpture.
The artist is talented and he deserves support and encouragement because he showed new style in his exhibition.
