The Hisyah Industrial City in the Syrian province of Homs has witnessed notable development as new industrial facilities joined investment in this economic edifice by the beginning of this year.
According to Basam Al-Mansour, Director of Hisya industrial city, a new factory for refining and producing white sugar with an annual capacity of a million tons, will be opened soon with the aim of securing Syria’s needs of sugar and exporting the surplus.
Al-Mansour said that seven new investors have started work in the industrial city of Hisyah since the beginning of this year, benefitting from the government’s decision to depend on local industries instead of imports. He pointed out that the total number of investors in Hisyah industrial city raised to 888, of who 277 have began actual production while the rest still need some time to be ready for launching their production.
Al-Mansour went on to say that “the volume of investment in Hisyah industrial city has so far reached 250 billion Syrian pounds, and we look forward to expanding investment activities to meet the country’s need of all kinds of products.
On his part, Midyan Saleh, Director General of the new sugar factory, said that production in this factory is expected to start by the end of this month. The factory, whose capital is 350 million US dollars, will create some 400 job opportunities, he added.
During 2020, the industrial city of Hisyah achieved revenues that exceeded 3.5 billion Syrian pounds and attracted 18 new investors.
