In her new novel (Lawrence), the writer Asmahan Al-Halawani deals with various social issues through different visions of many events centered in the village of Lawrence, where most of the events of the novel were linked.
In Al-Halawani’s novel, the grandmother Sulaima was the novel’s most important protagonist whom most of the incidents were revolved around her. Batoul, the granddaughter who came to the village of Lawrence to surprise the grandmother, was the second character who stirred up many events and was linked to the interactions of most of the characters in the novel, positively and negatively.
Through the movement of the characters, the novelist Al-Halawani raised the value of love and described the different characters in a way that showed her personality and self-education.
The 342-page novel has a new style of writing, through which the writer expressed the importance of the role of women in facing the negatives, supporting the positives, and paying attention to culture.
The researcher, Ayham Saqr, director of Sin House for Printing, Publishing and Media that published the novel, pointed out that this novel contributes a lot to the emergence of the role of women in writing and literature despite all the difficulties they faced at various levels.
