A new Law Bans Dealing with Other Currencies Rather than Syrian Pound

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The mini economic committee approved drafting a legislative law provides for criminalization dealers with other currencies rather than the Syrian  by fines and prison sentences ranging from three to ten years in order to deter manipulators of  prices in the market and exploit the needs of citizens .

During the meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister  Dr. Wael al-Halqi yesterday discussions  dealt with appropriate mechanisms to prevent the high prices of foodstuffs , developing  systems deterrent for manipulators in exchange price of the dollar in the Syrian market and meeting the needs of the Syrian Family through government subsidies .

For his part, Governor of Central Bank of Syria Dr. Adib Mayaleh  stressed that since Wednesday foreign currency is sold  in dollars for  currency exchange institutions at 50.247 SP  under the condition that these institutions will  sell a dollar  price of 250 Syrian pounds, explaining that this intervention will be at least  twice a week and that these institutions can sell for commercial and non-commercial purposes
