A new book by Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Sayed documenting the Syrian cultural heritage in the history of Palmyra

“The Syrian Cultural Heritage in the History of Palmyra, the Most Beautiful Cities of World Heritage,” is a new book by researcher Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Sayed documenting the importance of heritage, antiquities and culture, and citing the historical status of Palmyra and its cultural role.

In his book, the researcher Al-Sayed believes that the cultural heritage is one of the most important global heritage sources adopted in the history of any event, from the point of view that culture records the past and helps us understand the stages through which the development of human civilization went through. Culture shows human beings how to move from the stage of gathering, hunting, and dwelling in caves to the stage of agriculture, stability, domestication, and the development of all kinds of life.
Al-Sayed indicated in his book that the importance of the Syrian archaeological heritage is not only measured by its historical and archaeological value globally, rather, it is measured by documenting the Syrian civilization and the stages that human civilization has developed and gone through throughout history.
According to  Al-Sayed’s research, Syria possesses a large number of great cultural monuments, and Palmyra is a special jewel in the abundant great cultural monuments. It is one of the most prominent monuments in the world and has a rich and developed history.

Al-Sayed also sheds light in his book on the concept of cultural and urban heritage, the Syrian historical and cultural impact.

The research study addresses the most important pivotal stages in the history of the city of Palmyra and the need for concerted efforts to restore life to the city and to restore what was destroyed, looted and stolen.
