A contemporary Syrian art museum was opened in the German city of Bremen during a ceremony held by the Takla Cultural Charitable Foundation registered in Germany.
The opening ceremony was held with the participation of Syria’s embassy in Berlin and in the presence of a large number of members of the Syrian community in Germany and many German citizens who are interested in culture and art.
During the opening ceremony, Director of the Museum for Art Affairs Frisi Crella reviewed the paintings exhibited in the museum and the stories of these paintings, clarifying that the museum aims at encouraging dialogue among cultures and at introducing the Syrian artists and intellectuals in a bid to enrich the cultural and artistic life in the city of Bremen.
Crella pointed out that the Syrian culture is distinguished for its diversity, stressing that despite suffering from war for more than ten years, the Syrian people, particularly the Syrian artists, continued to tell their stories, which are kept deep in the Syrian memory, through these paintings and sculptures, and this is the miracle of the contemporary Syrian art.
On his part, the Syrian Honorary Consul in Bremen and Lower Saxony, Director of Takla Foundation, Shawkat Takla, said that the museum aims at introducing the Syrian culture to the German people, pointing out that the foundation has held a number of artistic exhibitions for several Syrian artists in Berlin, granted a prize for contemporary youth Syrian art in 2021 and published a book on contemporary Syrian art in order to encourage young Syrian artists, appreciate their works and create an important platform for exhibiting and introducing their work to the German art lovers.
The museum exhibits important artworks by Syrian artists that explain the contemporary aspects of Syrian art through many paintings, sculptures and other artistic works.
