A memorial to the martyrs in the town of Firouzeh in Homs countryside

In appreciation of their sacrifices in order to defend the homeland and restore security and safety to its territorythe memorial to the martyrs was unveiled on May 22nd in the town of Firouzeh in the countryside of  Homs 

The memorial embodies the military helmet and Damascene swords, in addition to the Syrian flag, the emblem of the eagle and the torch of the martyr. 

 

It was designed by the engineer, Sarah Greige, and was donated by the expatriate Tawfiq Khalil and his wife from the town of Fayrouzah.

Huda Al-Homsi, a member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, head of the Central Office of Popular Organizations and Professional Syndicates, said: “This edifice is a token of loyalty to those who sacrificed their blood for this good land.

Sanaa Abu Zaid, a former member of the People’s Assembly and a resident of Fairoza, pointed out that the monument is a simple expression of the people’s appreciation for the sacrifices of the martyrs of Syria and what they have done to preserve the dignity and independence of the homeland

Nadim Abdel Aziz from the town indicated that the monument was completed within a year and a half to be a symbol of love and loyalty. 

Father Toma Kasuheh, priest of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Firouzeh, explained that the construction of the monument stems from the sanctity of what the martyrs offered to the soil of their country

The event was attended by a number of members of the People’s Assembly, the Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, the Secretary of the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, Omar Houriya, and the President of the Homs Provincial Council.
