A memorandum of understanding on establishing a center to provide care for children with disabilities in the villages of Jabal Al-Sheikh
With the aim of strengthening community partnership between non-governmental organizations, a number of these organizations signed today a memorandum of understanding under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, to establish a community center to provide care for children with disabilities in the villages of Jabal Al-Sheikh in rural Damascus.
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Louay Al-Munajjid, confirmed the ministry’s keenness to provide support and issue appropriate decisions to enhance the work of non-governmental organizations, and activate participatory work between them in a way that will benefit the target groups.
Minister Al-Munajjid noted the importance of strengthening the efforts to promote the civil sector to be an effective partner in community service and a complete government work, thus contributing to increasing the number of beneficiaries of services provided by non-governmental organizations.
The Director of Social Affairs in Rural Damascus, Fatima Rashid, explained that the center will include in the future all the villages of the region.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Ahdaf” Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Projects, Dr. Ali Al-Khidr, spoke about the Foundation’s role in training and qualifying a cadre of trainers to deal with people with disabilities.
The head of the “Baq’asem” Charity Association, Bahaa Imad, noted the center’s contribution to alleviating the economic burdens on people with disabilities, and the difficulty of their access to their care centers in the countryside of Damascus.
