A Memorandum of Understanding between ACSAD and AAAID to Achieve Sustainable Development.

The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and DryLands ACSAD and the Arab Authority for  Agriculture Investment and Development signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation between the two parties in areas related to their joint activities, to contribute to achieve sustainable agricultural development in the Arab region.

The memorandum which was signed at the headquarter of ACSAD today, included development of the agriculture investments, development of agricultural scientific research,  the transfer and localization of modern agricultural technologies, the promotion of trade exchange between Arab countries, and the facilitation of the flow of goods of Arab origin.

The memorandum stipulates that cooperation between the two parties will be through programs, projects, and safe and environmentally friendly agriculture technologies, provision of the best modern technologies and innovations, improved plant  production and animal breeding  and tolerance of the environmental stresses. In addition to enhancing the performance of the agriculture sector and sustainable solutions for food security.

The memorandum noted the need for cooperation in the field of propagation and dissemination of wheat varieties derived from ACSAD approved in Arab countries with high productivity and adapted to the climate of Arab countries and the implementation of joint development projects.

The Director General of ACSAD, Director Dr. Naser El-Din Al-Obeid, confirmed that this memorandum is an embodiment of the constructive cooperative relations between the two parties in various fields of common interest in order to develop agricultural scientific research and its investment.

For his part, the Chairman of AAAID, Dr. Muhammad bin Obaid Al Mazrouei, said: The signing of this memorandum is a new start for the process of cooperation between the two sides and we hope  that the outcome of this memorandum will be  more fruitful cooperation in various fields of interest to ACSAD for the advancement of the scientific, research and agricultural sector.
