Syria’s travel and tourism industry has been a major casualty of the war on the country. According to the UNESCO, 5 of Syria world heritage sites have been affected by the war and as of 2013 the Syrian tourism Revenue had dropped by 94%, with Aleppo City being the most affected.
The one and only promoter of the travel and tourism industry in Syria, The Ministry of Tourism, is regaining its strength and presence. The Ministry has been endorsing the county’s charm through a series of activities;
including a release of more than a dozen videos on YouTube, each concentrating on one of Syria’s tourist attractions and beautiful sites, under the title ” Syria always beautiful.” Before the war, Syria was a popular tourist destination. The Atlantic reported “that the country welcomed about 8.5 million tourists in 2010.”
The Syrian tourism minister BishrYazigi stated last month that the ministry will advance in activating online booking in the Syrian hotels, assuring the importance of upgrading the hotel fronts and receptions to enhance the quality of their services.
The promotion of tourism in Syria is significantly handled by the ministry. It will continue encouraging tourists to visit the beautiful Syria again. The Syrian people will always have faith in the place they call home, they believe their country will overcome the present, temporary turbulence and bloom again soon.
