A convoy of aid loaded with 54 tons of relief materials and shelters for the Syrian governorates affected by the earthquake arrived this evening at the Nassib border crossing.
The convey provided by the Jordanian government and the Hashemite Jordanian Charitable Authority.
The Chargé d’Affairs of the Jordanian embassy in Damascus, Dr. Basil Al -Kayed, said in a press statement that the convoy consists of seven trucks that include various relief materials, in addition to the shelter requirements like blankets, mattresses, covers, etc.
He said that Jordan, as a government and people, stands by Syria in this ordeal and that it will continue, under royal directives, to extend a helping hand to the Syrian people in the face of this catastrophe.
The Governor of Daraa Louay Kharettah thanked Jordan for its supportive stance and for its solidarity with the Syrian people in the face of the ordeal.
The head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch of Daraa Ahmed Al -Masalmeh affirmed that the organization’s cadres received the trucks sent from Jordan at the Nassib crossing, and they will be sent to the affected governorates successively.
He said that the organization is working at full capacity within the current circumstances.
The convoy was received by the Jordanian Consul in Damascus Anwar Al -Bedawi, and members of the Executive Office in Daraa Governorate.
