A forum for plastic arts at Jableh Archaeological Amphitheatre in support of those affected by the earthquake

“Arts are a wauy to overcome pain”, this sentence formed the title of the Jableh Forum for Plastic Arts, which is being held by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism at the Jableh Archaeological Amphitheatre in support of those affected by the earthquake that struck Jableh city on the 6th of last February.

7 visual artists participated in the forum, each will present two works will be done directly in front of the audience during the exhibition period which lates for 7days.

Waseem Abd Al Hamid, Director of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Culture, said that there will be similar exhibitions in Aleppo, Hama and Idlib, the cities affected by the earthquake. Then a central exhibition will be held in Damascus for all, noting that the proceeds of these events will go to those affected by the earthquake.

Majd Sarem, Director of Latakia Culture, indicated that the forum is very important especially since it is held in a cultural landmark, Jableh Archeological Amphitheatre, and it brings together the city’s artists who belong to more than one art school. He pointed out that the invitation is open to all artists and many young amateurs have responded to the invitation to benefit from the experiences of great artists.

Sarem explained that the closing of the exhibition will include all the participating works, in addition to a concert for the students of Mahmoud Al AJan Institute, based on the fact that the plastic art and music are a window to soothe wounds, draw a smile, and get out of the effects of the disaster.

The artists indicated the importance of their participation in the forum to express through their paintings their hope for the return of life to their city and recovery from the effects of the earthquake disaster.

Some of the paintings used watercolors, and some used the collage technique from the remnants of fabrics and various materials.

The artists participating in the forum are: Ali Maqous, Bassam Nasser, Basil Ibrahim, Roua Hassan, Badi Jahjah, Rana Othman, Kaed Haider, Hayam Salman, Asaad Smoqan, Ammar Shawa, Rami Sabour, Hussein Sokoor, Amer Ali, Adawiya Dayoub, Yarub Ahmed. Ali Naziha, Waseem Abdel Hamid.
