A European historian stresses there is no substitute for military operations against terrorism in Idlib

The European historian concerned with the Middle East Affairs, Gutz Aly, affirmed that the Turkish regime’s practices in Syria contradict the international law, stressing the importance of the military operations being waged by the Syrian army with the support of Russia to eliminate terrorists in Idlib governorate.

In an interview with the German news site Fonke Kultur, Aly said that there is no substitute for the Syrian army’s operations to eliminate terrorists in Idlib, which has become an epicenter of terrorists, particularly from “al-Nusra Front” who target the city of Aleppo with weapons.

The historian likened the operations to liberate Idlib from terrorists to the operations to liberate the Iraqi city of Mosul from ISIS terrorists two and half years ago, underlining the need to force the terrorists in Idlib to stop their attacks and lay down their weapons.

In turn, the German Member of Parliament and foreign affairs expert Bijan Ger Sarai criticized the practices of the Turkish regime in Syria, reiterating that this regime should not be allowed to continue pursuing blackmail and putting pressure on Europe regarding the immigrants file.

In an interview with the German Funkeh media group, Ger Sarai described what the Turkish regime is doing in Syria as a “great risk, stressing that the Turkish regime must acknowledge the mistakes it committed.

Ger Sarai pointed sarcastically to the reaction of NATO countries which support the Turkish regime, indicating that NATO’s response is summed up as follows:  We are with the you (the Turkish regime) by saying, but indeed you (the Turkish regime) should see how you can get out of this situation.
