A delegation from the International Civil Aviation Organization visits Syria

Today, a delegation from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) arrived at Damascus International Airport, marking its first visit to Syria since 2008.

The regional director of the organization in the Middle East Mohammed Abu Bakr Farah said in a statement to SANA that the organization looks forward to cooperating in the upcoming phase with the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority and to redeveloping its aviation sector.

He expressed his happiness at visiting Damascus on behalf of the international organization. For his part, the head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority Ashhad Al-Salibi pointed out that the delegation’s visit to Syria is considered historic and will be utilized to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

He noted that the aviation sector in the country is being developed in accordance with the international standards set by ICAO, ensuring the security and safety of aviation.

The delegation includes Hussein Qubani, the aviation security officer in the organization’s regional office, and Mohammed Shakib, the air traffic and operational safety officer.
