A cooperation agreement between Syria and Serbia signed in the field of agriculture

Damascus (ST): The Minister of Agriculture, Mohamad Hassan Qatna, discussed with the Serbian Assistant Foreign Minister for Bilateral Cooperation Vladimir Marić activating trade exchange and signing a future cooperation agreement in the agricultural sector between the two countries.

 Engineer Qatna referred to the importance of trade exchange in the field of supplying fertilizers, production requirements, modern agricultural machinery and fodder, and in return the export of citrus fruits, apples, olive oil and ornamental plants, in addition to the possibility of transferring the Syrian experience in the field of producing biological pesticides to eliminate many insects, as well as agricultural quarantine systems and the exchange of experiences and opening new horizons through continuous meetings and dialogues.

Minister Qatna indicated the possibility of signing the cooperation agreement after reaching its final version and providing all facilities for establishing investments in Syria in accordance with the new investment law, indicating the role of the private sector in Syria and the need to establish commercial centers or offices in the two countries to carry out mutual operations and coordinate commercial relations.

For his part, Maric expressed his country’s readiness to establish a fertilizer plant in Syria and participate in the tenders that are announced, especially in the fields of supplying modern tractors, fodder, agricultural production requirements and pesticides, calling on Minister Qatna to visit Serbia and learn about the agricultural reality in it and the techniques used in this field.
