DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Miqdad stressed that any meaningful dialogue to resolve the crisis in Syria must be Syrian and subject to the decision of the Syrian people through referendum.
In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV on Saturday evening, Miqdad added: All parties are invited to the national dialogue, noting that there is no set preconditions on those who want to participate, but just to drop the arms and join the dialogue with good intention.
Miqdad indicated basic principles that every one should believe in : non-military intervention in Syria, preserving the unity of Syria ‘s people and land, and the adoption of democratic principles in management and respect for human rights, laws and political and media pluralism.
Integrated political program for dialogue
Miqdad stressed that the basic initiative for the dialogue is the integrated political program for solution put forward by Syria in three stages, based on the UN Charter, international law, the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of States, the fight against terrorism and the Geneva statement.
“President Bashar al-Assad is the elected president in Syria and he is entrusted to maintain the unity of the Syrian people and land, and therefore he should be on top of the mission to solve the crisis.” Miqdad added.
Bet to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs deadlocked
“Bets made by some Parties to interfere in Syrian affairs reached a deadlock so they started to incline to the political solution put forward by the Syrian government, ” he continued.
Miqdad stressed the need to put the Turkish government on the terrorist- supporters list because of its plenary involvement of what Syria has been suffering through supporting terrorists, navigating them into Syria and provide them with arms.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates continued that Syria’s friends want to resolve the crisis through national dialogue among the Syrians , without foreign intervention, noting that they work to prevent other countries from being drawn toward creating instability in Syria .
Western countries all means to terrorists in Syria
Miqdad indicated that the Western countries and their allies provided terrorists in Syria by all means and held meetings in order to destroy Syria and to bring it back to the colonial era, but failed, and therefore they have to stop support to the armed terrorist groups and deal with terrorism in Syria they way they do in Mali.
He expressed hope that the US new Secretary of State John Kerry will change the US destructive policy in the Middle East becausethe world can be only maintained through peace and security and by restoring stability to an important country in the Middle East , namely Syria.
