A charity bazaar held  in Lattakia

With the participation of 30 exhibitors from different civil associations , charity establishments  and individuals from several governorates, Mosaic  Human  Relief and  Development  Association  in Lattakia a charity bazaar was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.

“The event is held annually with the aim of  funding  students who cannot afford their studies, and to provide assistance and care to those who need it through women’s empowerment projects and health and educational projects” the coordinator of the bazaar  and head of the educational programs at  Mosaic association  Rania Qureiah said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

She indicated  that the charity bazaar  is characterized by displaying different kinds of handmade products including crochet , accessories , detergents and toys for children in addition to traditional dishes.

Da’adSafiya,the  supervisor of the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for People with Disabilities at  the Specialized Counselling Center ( SCC)  in Lattakia told Syriatimes that “ the bazaar  is an opportunity for the center to display the products of people with disabilities and enhance their self-confidence encouraging them to have an active role in society.

She indicated that the center aims to rehabilitate people with disabilities and develop their capabilities and invest in them based on the latest internationally accredited rehabilitation programs

She indicated that the center participated in professional works made by people with disabilities, such as embroidery, crochet, and simple industries such as candles, soap, accessories, beads,  and artificial trees, to contribute to their integration into society as productive and effective elements.

In turn,Hind Ghandour, a volunteer of “ Our Elderly”  Association in Lattakia stressed that The charity exhibition is an important platform for the elderly to affirm that despite their age they are still able to play their role in society and  market their handmade works including  woolen sweaters,  table covers and picture frames” indicating  the proceeds of  the works return to the elderly .

14-year -old participant, Laya Balosh participated in showcasing a collection  of handmade  accessories, and expressed her dream to have her own  project in the field of manufacturing accessories.
