A batch of Russian relief aid distributed to people in shelter centers in Lattakia
A batch of urgent relief aid has been received today for those affected by the earthquake in Lattakia. The aid batch is provided by the gathering center of the Russian forces operating in the Syrian Arab Republic at the Hmeimim base.
The aid, which includes foodstuffs: rice, tea, sugar, and sunflower oil, is to be distributed to the affected families in the shelter centers of Al-Rawda and Houria mosques in Lattakia.
Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vasily, the aid official at the Russian Reconciliation Center at Hmeimim Air Base, said during a statement to reporters that the aid was secured from the warehouses at the base until the arrival of Russian planes carrying humanitarian aid for the affected people in Lattakia, Aleppo and Idlib.
An accompanying Russian medical team also examined a number of citizens at the medical point that was allocated in one of the corners of Al-Rawda Mosque, to provide health services to the families there.
Citizens Amer Damietta, Atef Shreiqi and Mustafa Yassin, from the southern Raml neighborhood who left their homes as a result of the earthquake, expressed their gratitude to friendly countries, especially Russia for supporting the Syrians in their ordeal and for providing assistance.
