Homs (ST): A group of workers in Homs, while working to remove the rubble from the old city found inside an abandoned building a large leather bag containing many artifacts, and it was handed over to the Department of Antiquities in the governorate.
In a statement, Director of Homs Antiquities Hossam Hamish expressed appreciation to the initiative taken by the workers by handing the bag over to the Antiquities Department as soon as they found it, calling on all citizens to help them preserve the antiquities by various means.
Lubaba Al-Ali, curator of the Homs Museum, said: After conducting an examination of the bag, it was found that it contains six pottery saddles, some of which are antique, and five pottery vessels, one of which is complete and the rest are incomplete (All antique) and a small jar of broken and incomplete pottery dating back to the Byzantine period, and ten parts of clay dolls, three of which represent antique animals and seven female and human dolls dating back to the Bronze period.
