A $3million grant from the UN to support health care services in Syria

The World Health Organization WHO announced that the United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) has provided a $3 million grant to support health care operations in Syria.

The organization said in a statement posted on its website: This grant contributes to strengthening the continuity of essential medical services, disease surveillance, and mental health support in areas most affected by displacement and humanitarian crises.

Acting WHO Representative in Syria, Christina Bethke clarified that this funding plays a vital role in enabling the organization to continue emergency services and respond rapidly to health needs on the ground, especially during this critical phase in Syria.

She noted that this contribution ensures that even the most vulnerable groups are not neglected.

According to the WHO , this six-month initiative will directly benefit more than 530,000 people, including internally displaced persons, returning refugees, members of host communities, and vulnerable families, and indirectly benefit approximately 5 million people through improved health systems and medical coverage across Syria.
