Under the title “ for people.. for life”, activities of AL- Dalbah 8thForum for Culture and Arts kicked off on Tuesday at Al-Dalbah Square in Mashta al-Helou in Tartous province.
The three-day cultural event is organized by a number of economic, civil and expatriate activities.
A sculpture and painting forum was opened on the first day of the festival with the participation of 7 sculptors and five painters who used various materials, including wood, clay, stone and painting on walls within the graffiti project “Towards a Beautiful Town” to remove the distortion on the region’s walls.
The general supervisor of the forum, lawyer Wael Sabbagh, said to SANA that the people of Mashata Al-Helou used to meet their guests of the festival under Al- Dalba tree . This perennial tree, which the forum bears its name, symbolizes love, life, hope and rebirth.
He stressed that they continue to hold this festival despite all circumstances.
Al-Dalbah 8th festival is characterized this year, according to Sabbagh, by mixing materials including cardboard, wood, metal wires and adhesives, indicating that walnut is the wood used in addition to river stone in carving on wood and stone.
The artistic supervisor of the festival sculptor Alaa Mohammad told SANA that the organizers of the festival this year chose a group of recently graduated young men and women to participate in the artistic forums.
He indicated that the forum used to present new artistic works which contribute to continuing communication with the residents of Mashta El-Helou , improving their visual artistic taste and consolidating interaction between them and a greater number of artists and intellectuals from different governorates, which according to Mohammad , gives a positive viewpoint to life under all circumstances.
On her part, the artist Rahaf Ulum, who is participating for the first time in the festival , stressed that her participation in the festival gave her a sense of positive energy.
She indicated that her new experience in the festival , which combines cloth, metal wires and wood presents the state of fear that a person lives and his search for stability mixed with anxiety about any new step.
Although it is his third participation in the forum, the sculptor Yamen Youssef noted the importance of the cultural forums which bring together artists from different artistic schools to enrich their experiences.
In turn, artist Ruba Al-Kanj, participating for the second time in the forum, presents a portrait based on the combination of wood and paper pulp as a new experience for her.
She stressed her constant desire to participate in such cultural activities and visiting unique places , which form an outlet for artists , especially under the house quarantine conditions imposed by the Corona epidemic.
The activities of the graffiti workshop, which have been launched for three years, will continue during the festival to remove distortion on the walls of the area.
The supervisor of the graffiti workshop artist Samer Ismail said the workshop is carried out under the title “Towards a Beautiful Town ” and based on drawing in the open air..
Artist Ismail underlined that the festival is a space that enables artists to interact, communicate and exchange experiences, describing it as a spotlight project in the ashes.
