PRAGUE, (ST)- Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček has affirmed that the European Union (EU) will take additional measures against Turkish regime’s officials if Ankara doesn’t stop its unilateral actions in the east of the Mediterranean.
In a statement to the Czech Radio on Monday, the Czech official said “the European Union doesn’t rule out the idea of imposing sanctions on Turkey over its illegal drilling acts in the Mediterranean.”
During their meeting in mid September, leaders of the EU countries and governments will adopt new punitive measures against Turkey, Petříček added.
The EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell announced on Friday that the EU is preparing sanctions against the Turkish regime. This issue will be discussed during the EU leaders’ meeting in September in response to Turkey’s violations in the east of the Mediterranean.
