Egyptian politician: Turkish regime’s act of cutting water supplies for Syria’s Hasaka a crime against humanity

CAIIRO, (ST)- Head of the Egyptian Generation Party Naji al-Shehabi has condemned the Turkish regime’s crime of cutting water supplies for more than a million Syrian citizens in Hasaka and its vicinity, describing this inhuman act as a crime against humanity.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo, al-Shehabi said that the Turkish regime uses water as a weapon against the steadfast citizens of Hasaka for their rejection of the Turkish occupation, adding that Turkish regime is violating international laws as well as the Geneva conventions and human values.

He urged the United Nations, the Security Council and the International Community to immediately intervene in order to stop Erdogan’s regime’s crimes and schemes against Syria.

Local efforts and international pressure on Erdogan’s regime have led to the resumption of water pumping to the city of Hasaka from Alouk water station after water supplies were cut off by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries for 14 consecutive days, making more than a million citizens suffer from thirst.
