Mini-constitutional committee holds morning session at UN Headquarters in Geneva

GENEVA, (ST) -The mini-constitutional committee held a meeting Saturday morning at the UN Headquarters in Geneva with the purpose of discussing amendments to the Syrian constitution.

The morning session was held with the participation of the national delegation as well as the other two delegations representing the Syrian civil society and oppositions.

Meetings of the third round of the Committee for discussing the Syrian constitution resumed its activities on Thursday after being suspended by the United Nations over detecting Coronavirus infections among the delegates.

 On Friday, Head of the national delegation to the meetings of committee Ahmad al-Kuzbari affirmed the need for an agreement on sublime national principles before discussing the constitution, most importantly is respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The mini constitutional body consists of 45 members, 15 for the national delegation, 15 others for the civil society and the remaining 15 represent the opposition delegation.
