Berlin (ST): EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell said that the EU was preparing to impose sanctions on the Turkish regime in response to its violations in the Mediterranean, noting that these sanctions would be discussed during the forthcoming EU summit scheduled next month.
Reuters quoted Borrell as saying that these measures might include individuals, ships or using the European ports.
He went on to say that as no progress has been achieved by the Turkish party to alleviate tension with Greece and Cyprus, the EU would put a list of measures that would be discussed in the forthcoming EU summit scheduled to be held in Brussels on September 24th.
Earlier, Cyprus and Greece called on the EU not to tolerate the Turkish aggressive acts that destabilize the region.
