“Art illuminates the darkness” exhibition

Under the title “Art illuminates the darkness”, the Cultural center in Kafer Souseh and the Peace Candles Association held an exhibition in Damascus. 

Twenty artists participated in the exhibition and they displayed more than 40 works that included oil and acrylic paintings, depicting different themes related to the Syrian nature and daily life of people.

Each artist expressed his idea in his own style and colors using different techniques that mixed several art schools.

Artist Najwa Al-Sharif, who displayed three paintings in the exhibition, told Syria Times e-newspaper: “my paintings show sadness but there is still hope… The message of art is to spread peace hope and ambition all over the world” 

“One of my painting depicts the recent explosion that took place in Lebanon and a call to be optimistic and that Lebanon will rebuild itself again,” Al-Sharif added.

She went on to say: Woman for me is the essence of life; woman has a vital role during the crisis in Syria. She is a symbol of love and sacrifice”.

Nariman Al-Hammami, another participant displayed two paintings that reflect Arabic calligraphy and its beauty as an oriental art that combines calligraphy with decoration. 

Nariman’s works show the importance of Arabic calligraphy in conveying her inner feelings and thoughts toward life.” It represents life for me” 

Nariman Hamami used blue color to reflect her love, optimism and beauty.

Lina Rizq, Head of the “Peace Candle” Association,whose participation came through two paintings that embodied her view of life and nature. 

“My works in this event is inspired by the surrealist school. The recipient needs time to see the details of the painting” she said.

Rizk added, “The association is interested in holding such art exhibitions for artists to give them an opportunity to exhibit”

“Holding such cultural events will help continue carrying candles of peace as art remains the everlasting flame of peace “she concluded.
