Russian MoD holds US troops responsible for collision incident in Hasaka countryside

MOSCOW-The Russian Ministry of Defense held the US occupation forces in Syria responsible for the recent collision incident that took place in Qamishli in the northeast of Syria and that resulted in the injury of two US soldiers.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said that “in violation of the existing agreements, the US troops, deployed illegally in Hasaka countryside, attempted to block a Russian patrol, which took every step necessary to prevent the incident and proceeded with its mission.”

“A video taken by one of the Russian military vehicles and that went viral on social media showed American armored vehicles trying to block Russian vehicles in Hasaka countryside. A Russian helicopter intervened, approached the ground, causing a dust storm around the American vehicles,” the ministry added.

The ministry pointed out that the Russian Chief of the General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov spoke with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley about the recent incident.

Gen. Gerasimov drew the US side’s attention to the fact that the American side was notified about the passage of the Russian military in accordance with the existing rules.
