The National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus is currently hosting the joint sculptural exhibition for two young sculptors Fatima Othman and Tammam Abu Assaf.
The exhibition includes 17 works of different sizes for artist Fatima, who used wood, metal and polyester materials to show human status and overlooks inspired from the bird and nature in expressive and abstract styles.
Other 17 works made by the second artist Tamam on the same topics were also shown in the exhibition.
Speaking to Syria Times e-newspaper, the sculptor Fatima said: “This is my first joint exhibition after my graduation from the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2015.. My works are the result of my experience in sculptures during the past five years and they reflect my inner ideas about women and birds”.
On his part, the artist Tammam tried in his works to make metal flexible to convey his inner thoughts.
“My sculptors are mixtures of realism and abstract and this method makes me feel comfortable,” he said.
Tammam went on to say: “Some of my works depict the siege and pain from which the Syrian people have suffered in recent years, while
other works reflect the balance between comfort and pain.”
The exhibition shows the talent and the ability of the two artists in making beautiful works that are a mixture between realism and abstract.
