Final suppression of fire in the Arab gas pipeline after it was subjected to a terrorist attack, Minister of Oil: The situation will return to what it was in the coming hours

The firefighting and civil defense teams were able to completely suppress  the fire that broke out in the Arab gas pipeline between the regions of Dameer and Adra, after it was subjected to a terrorist attack at dawn on August 24.

The Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Eng. Ali Ghanem, said that the explosion of the Arab gas pipeline was a result of a terrorist act.

Ghanem indicated that after the fire was completely extinguished, technical checks began immediately on the line to conduct maintenance and replace the affected sections, and during the coming hours, stations will be supplied with gas  and the situation will return to what it was before the terrorist attack.

“ We have been able to separate the sectional valves for this line, which has a diameter of “36” inches and has a capacity of 7 million cubic meters of gas per day according to its stages, meaning we separate the site of the malfunction or the terrorist attack on this line and thus replenish the Nasiriyah station with gas and the Jandar station. And the electric supplies will gradually return,” Ghanem added.

In turn, the Minister of Electricity Eng. Muhammad Zuhair Kharboutli, said that the electrical supplies began partially to return to the Syrian governorates, including  downtown  Damascus city.

Kharbotli said that the electrical supplies have been restored to some important vital institutions in Damascus, such as hospitals and some residential neighborhoods, in addition to a partial return of the electrical supplies in the governorates of Homs and Hama and the coastal area.

“All technical workshops in the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Electricity, and the generation stations are fully prepared to restore the electrical supplies to what it was during the coming hours,” Kharboutli added.

The Arab gas pipeline supplying the southern region between the Dameer area and Adra in the Damascus countryside was subjected to a terrorist attack at August 24’s dawn, which led to blackout in all of Syria.
