Bushkov: America’s failure to pass a resolution against Iran in the Security Council has put it again in humiliating isolation
Moscow,(ST)-The head of the Media Policy Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation, Alexei Pushkov, affirmed that the failure of the United States to pass a draft resolution in the UN Security Council extending the arms embargo on Iran has put USA again in “humiliating isolation.”
The UN Security Council yesterday rejected the US draft resolution in this regard after Russia and China used the “veto” against it, while Britain, France, Germany and 8 other countries abstained from voting, and only the United States and the Dominican Republic voted in favor of it.
Russia Today quoted Pushkov as saying in a tweet today .. “Once again the United States found itself in humiliating isolation … its draft resolution that it submitted to the UN Security Council regarding an unlimited time ban on arms supplies to Iran has failed,” stressing that “constitutes a heavy blow to the standing and prestige of the United States.”
Pushkov indicated that confronting the actions of the United States and rejecting its practices is increasing from Venezuela to Germany, as Washington is trying to prevent the completion of the Northern Torrent 2 project to transport gas from Russia to Europe.
It is noteworthy that according to Resolution 2231 issued by the United Nations Security Council in 2015 after the signing of the nuclear agreement, Iran will be permitted, starting next October, to buy and sell conventional weapons.
