The fifteenth general conference of the National Union of Syrian Students Kicks off … Saati: The conference is exceptional and discusses the most important issues that concern the educated and informed student segment
Damascus,(ST)-Under the title “An era we renew with knowledge, steadfastness and victory”, the works of the 15th General Conference of the National Union of Syrian Students was launched yesterday in the Sahara Complex in Damascus countryside.
Participants in the conference will discuss, over a period of three days, reports submitted by the Federation’s Central Council in the areas of organization, qualification, finance, scientific studies, external branches, culture, information, artistic and social activity, forums, national and volunteer work, sports activity, institutes, special education and informational issues.
In his opening speech during the conference, Dr. Ammar Saati, member of the central leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, head of the National Union of Syrian Students, praised the great sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army in combating terrorism,stressing that the the Syrian Arab Army maintained the covenant and fulfilled the promise and Syria is now recovering despite all attempts to thwart its with terrorism.
Dr. Saati denounced the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, stressing that Syria’s enemies are trying today to strangle it with the economy Dr. Saati said “As we have all proven previously we will prove today and as we stayed here, we will remain here exercising our right to defend ourselves, our rights, our constitution and our existence , we look forward to doing this with our great leader Dr. Bashar al-Assad ”
Dr. Saati indicated that the conference is not normal, but aims to create a state of dialogue between youth and stakeholders in government agencies to discuss the most important issues that concerns the educated and informed student segment, calling on the participants to be serious in dealing with the conference agenda and invest time on this topic.
Dr. Saati pointed out that the conference is being held under the most difficult circumstances after being postponed consecutive times due to the conditions of the Corona epidemic, Therefore, great care was taken so that it should be a model in performance, output, discipline and role models.
In statements to the media after the opening ceremony ,Eng.. Omar Jebaei, a member of the Federation’s executive office, said that the conference includes 400 elected members representing students in all universities, governmental and private institutions and branches of the National Union of Syrian students abroad who will participate in the conference via the Internet, “Skype technology.”
In turn, Darren Suleiman, member of the executive office of the National Union of Syrian Students, stressed the importance of holding the conference to discuss the work of the Student Union organization as a whole to develop visions and strategies in all areas that the union operates and supervises, whether at the level of higher education or at the level of student activities and how to develop them, indicating that what distinguishes the current conference is the presence of Youth dialogue workshops that will accompany the specialized committees in the conference in the presence of concerned in the government.
In a similar statement, Ammar Kaadah, head of the Aleppo University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, said that the conference has major issues for students in various educational, economic and political fields, noting the specific dialogue workshops included in the conference agenda.
For his part, Waseem Gharz Al-Din, head of the Student Union branch at the Syrian Private University, pointed out that the conference agenda is broad and rich in issues of interest to students in universities, indicating that it is an opportunity to raise these issues and discuss amending the universities ’labor laws with the government team, especially in terms of adjusting the policy of scientific research in universities In addition to highlighting the role of youth in proposing ideas out of the economic crisis that Syria is undergoing, and their role in spreading awareness to address the Corona virus.
Head of the branch of Quneitra of the National Union of Syrian Students, Israa Al-Abdullah indicated that the branch of Quneitra had established last year and this is its first participation in the conference, indicating the importance of participation to transfer the demands and issues of students in various fields and emphasizing their role in the reconstruction of Syria and their ability to face challenges .
The conference includes sessions and during which a new central council will be elected for the federation and dialogue workshops on a number of issues of higher education, political empowerment of Syrian youth, employment and unemployment.
