Moscow to continue cementing partnership with Beijing despite Washington’s attempts to undermine this relation: Zakharova

MOSCOW- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has stressed her country’s rejection of the US provocative and rude attempts to affect the distinguished partnership between Moscow and Beijing, warning that the tension being provoked by Washington with Beijing will cause harm to both the United States and China and will have negative impacts on the international situation in general.

In a statement on Friday,  Zakharova said that Moscow will continue cementing relations with Beijing as they are a fundamental factor for stability and security in the world.

She made it clear that the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks about the possibility of dragging Moscow into a US alliance against China is another attempt to complicate the Russian-Chinese partnership and undermine the friendly ties between the two countries.

“We will strengthen our cooperation with China, which we view as a key factor for stabilization in the world,” Zakharova said.

The Russian diplomat indicated that “the defiant tone of Pompeo’s remarks has become normal in the US foreign policy’s vocabulary of rudeness towards China and the Chinese public and political system and leadership.”

“Russia and China are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and they play a major part in world affairs. Alongside other five members, they bear a special responsibility for maintaining global security,” she noted.
