PLO: Lynk’s report a new document criminalizing the Israeli occupation

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) has welcomed the report of the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Territories Michael Lynk in which he described Israel’s collective punishment of the Palestinian people as illegal and unjust.

“The report is another document added to the international resolutions and laws concerning the justice of the Palestinian cause which will be built on to criminalize the Israeli occupation,” the PLO said in a statement on Saturday.

The report draws attention to one of the many crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, namely collective punishment through closures and blockades and house demolition, which are flagrant violations of international laws and human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories,” the PLO statement added, according to Wafa News Agency.

The statement affirmed that Lynk’s report came amid difficult circumstances in which the Palestinian people are facing a malicious Israeli plan to annex parts of the West Bank.

In a report, submitted to the UN Human Rights Council during a session in Geneva on Friday,  Lynk said that the Israeli occupation aggressive practices against the Palestinian people are flagrant violation of human rights and international laws and they constitute an insult to justice and law. He called on Israel to immediately stop all actions amounting to collective punishment of the Palestinian people which harm millions of innocent Palestinians.
