Lack of drinking water threatens the lives of civilians in Hasaka, due to the Turkish occupation controlling pumping water from the Alouk Water Station

HASAKA, (ST) – The suffering of the people in the city of Hasaka and its countryside continues due to the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries from terrorists who are controlling pumping water from the Alouk Water Station, the only source of drinking water, and so threatening  the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians, especially children.

The Turkish occupation forces in Hasaka northern countryside have repeatedly cut off water from Alouk station, the only source of drinking water for citizens in the city of Hasaka and its western countryside.

In spite of restarting the Alouk Water Station after a cut off that lasted for  more than 14 days, the water did not reach many houses, especially the city center, due to the insufficient water.This was  deliberately done by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries because they run one pump only.

“After the water was pumped into the downtown districts yesterday, it did not reach the houses, and if it got to us it was just droplets  and the water lasted for limited hours,” Abu Ahmad said from Al-Qudat district, He said that “the water was good before the Turkish occupier took over the station and now they are trying to use water in their dirty plots. They are committing  a humanitarian crime against almost a million people.

The young man, Ismail from Gweran district affirms that what is happening is a war crime against humanity in front of an international silence.

Abu Nidal, a resident of Al-Nashwa district, said that, “cutting off and controlling drinking water denotes the hatred of the Turkish occupation, which is a crime against humanity and contradicts the teachings of religions and divine laws.”

The Director General of Al-Hasakah Water Mahmoud al-Ukla, in a statement to a SANA reporter, indicates that “the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries intend to reduce the pumping water .

Al-Ukla, added that “the only solution to the problem of drinking water is the exit of the Turkish occupier and his mercenaries from the terminal permanently and allowing the workers of the institution to operate, supervise and maintain the water pump so that things will return to what they were previously.”

He emphasized that “there are no infringements on the water traction line from the Alouk station and that the main problem of poor pumping and lack of arrival of drinking water to the people is the Turkish occupation and the practices of itsmercenary terrorists.
