Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reviewed in a telephone call with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo the situation in Syria and Libya.
Sputnik News Agency quoted the statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying that the two sides discussed resolving crises in several areas in the world including Syria, Libya and Afghanistan.
The statement also said that the two ministers also reviewed the preparations being made for the forthcoming meeting of the permanent member states at the UN Security Council and exchanged viewpoints on guaranteeing strategic stability within the framework of the meetings scheduled for the Russian American work groups regarding political and military issues.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had considered that holding a meeting for the five permanent members of the UN Security Council would be useful.
