Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during talks via video conference with the foreign ministers of the African Union tripartite group that the subsequent development of the partnership between Russia and Africa would play an important role in world affairs.
Lavrov indicated in his meeting with the foreign ministers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, and South Africa that it was stressed during the 2019 Russia-Africa Summit that the parties will continue to closely cooperate to develop partnerships in all fields and prevent the aggravation of conflicts in Africa as per the principle, “African problems to be resolved by African partners.”
“We are convinced that the subsequent strengthening of our partnership in all fields, according to the declaration adopted in Sochi, will play an important role in achieving stability in global and regional affairs,” Lavrov said.
Moreover, the Russian diplomat said that settlement of the crisis in Libya requires an immediate cessation of hostilities.
