DEIR EZZOR, (ST)- The Ministry of Electricity on Saturday put the second gas generating set in Al-Taym power station in Deir Ezzor countryside into service again after it was rehabilitated by national expertise because of the damage caused to it by terrorism.
The second gas generating set in Al-Taym power station, with a capacity of 30 megawatt, went out of service in 2015 because of terrorist attacks that caused huge damage in its parts, said Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuheir Kharboutli in a statement to reporters.
Now this damage has been fixed by national expertise at a cost of 70 million Syrian pounds, added Kharboutli. He pointed out that this gas generating set was implemented by a German company at a cost of 30 million euro, however, the siege and the sanctions imposed on Syria have made it very difficult for the German company or any other foreign company to come to the country and fix the damage.
