Athens (ST): Thousands of Greeks took to the streets of Athens and gathered in front of the Israeli embassy in protest against the Israeli occupation plans to annex parts of the West Bank.
President of the International Solidarity Committee Stavros Statos made a speech in which he demanded the Greek government to implement the Parliament decision regarding the recognition of the Palestinian state according to June 4th borderlines with Jerusalem as its capital.
The participants in the demonstration, which was organized by the Greek Communist Party, demanded the imposition sanctions on the Israeli occupation authorities and denounced the US policies that usurp the rights of world’s people.
In turn, the Palestinian ambassador to Greece Marwan Tobasi said that the problem does not only lie in annexing some parts of the Palestinian territories but by the continuity of the Israeli colonialist projects at the expense of the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights.
