Foreign Ministry: Syria condemns Brussels Conference, says it is a flagrant interference in its internal affairs
DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has stressed that the Brussels Conference is a flagrant interference in its internal affairs and that the positions of the participating countries prove that the United States as well as the European Union and their affiliated regimes continue their aggressive policies towards Syria, policies that have been proved to be wrong, according to an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
The source told SANA on Wednesday that “the regimes which have provided all forms of support for terrorism, shed the blood of the Syrians, destroyed their achievements, stolen their oil, wheat, factories and antiquities, impeded reconstructing what terrorism has destroyed, imposed unfair sanctions on the Syrian people and hindered the return of Syrian refugees to their home, can’t by any means claim that they care about the interests of the Syrians.”
The source said “those who committed crimes against the Syrians are primarily responsible for the Syrians’ suffering and they can’t hide their criminality behind a false humanitarian mask or through the open politicization of the humanitarian file in Syria in order to serve their own agendas.
The source added that Syria condemns such conferences and considers them as flagrant interference in Syria’s internal affairs which concern only the Syrians and their legitimate government. Syria also affirms that the only assistance that these regimes can provide to the Syrians is to stop supporting terrorism in implementation of the Security Council Resolution 2253, to respect Syria’s sovereignty and not to interfere in its affairs, the source pointed out.
The Syrians, who bravely confronted terrorism, are able to withstand the unfair economic siege and the coercive measures and to protect their national economy, the source continued to say, stressing that deciding Syria’s future is the exclusive right of the Syrians and that political and economical pressure will fail to weaken the free will of the Syrian people.
The source concluded by saying that underhand diplomacy mastered by many has no place in Syria’s political and diplomatic arena.
