Ankara,(ST)-The authorities of the Turkish regime submitted to the demands of the Turkish lawyers and allowed them to demonstrate in the center of Ankara in protest against the repressive policies pursued by Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s regime against his opponents.
After a 27-hour sit-in at the entrance to the capital, amid very tight security measures, the security authorities were obliged to allow the heads of bar associations from 80 states to continue their march from the entrance of Ankara, to the Bar Association building, where they would hold a press conference in which they would announce their position regarding the policies of the Erdogan regime against them and against opponents.
Many cities witnessed sit-ins and demonstrations organized by lawyers in support of union leaders, who refused to speak to the President of the Lawyers Union, Matin Vizioglu of Erdogan’s regime, and accused him of treason and conspiracy against them in exchange for promises to appoint him as Minister of Justice.
Union leaders in 80 provinces had begun their movement towards the capital, Ankara, in denunciation of Erdogan’s efforts to change the union law so that followers and supporters of the ruling Justice and Development Party could form bar associations in each state after they failed to control the current unions
