Erdogan’s party fell sharply as Turkish opposition shares escalated

Ankara,(ST)-A new opinion poll in Turkey revealed that popular support for the ruling Justice and Development Party, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has decreased significantly in exchange for rising opposition shares.

The website of the Turkish newspaper Yeni Cag stated that the poll conducted by the Turkish MAC Foundation for Community Studies and Opinion Polls and included 30 cities with major municipalities along with 15 states and districts asked a question about the participants about whether they are considering changing their convictions in supporting the parties that voted for them in the legislative elections on June 24, 2018, and 85 percent of those who voted for the Peoples Democratic Party, responded that their convictions will not change, while this percentage reached 80 percent for the Republican and Good People’s Parties, 75 percent for the National Movement Party, and 70 percent for the Happiness Party.

While this percentage fell to 65 percent for the Justice and Development Party, which means that 35 percent of its supposed popular base decided to vote for parties other than the ruling party.

The percentage of those heading to support the Future Party led by former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was 2.9 percent, compared to 2.8 for the Democracy and Progress Party led by former Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan.

The Justice and Development Party has been witnessing for a period of a series of turmoil and resignations, the most prominent of which was the resignation of Babacan last July and Davutoglu on the 13th of last September and the establishment of two anti-justice and development parties.

This poll comes within a series of opinion polls, all of which confirmed a significant decline in the popularity of the ruling party, against the backdrop of Erdogan’s regime policies that have entered the country in a dark tunnel internally and externally and caused the country to retreat at all levels, especially economic ones.

This decline led the Turkish opposition parties to predict the end of the Erdogan era, justice and development, and then these parties began making all necessary preparations in anticipation of early elections in which they see the way out of the country from the bad conditions.
