Israel’s nuclear activities pose a threat to the region’s security and stability

VIENNA, (ST)- Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Ambassador to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has stressed that the nuclear activities of the Zionist entity pose a threat to the security and stability of the region and they should be subjected to international control and inspection.

“What is ironic is that Israel, which is not a member of any mechanism for arms control or disarmament, has not opened any of its nuclear facilities to IAEA inspectors though it possesses all types of weapons of mass destruction, yet it asks Iran to work closely with the IAEA, “ Gharibabadi said in response to Israeli-anti Iran claims during the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

He affirmed that Israel has spared no effort in lying and circulating fake information about Iran in order to mislead the IAEA and public opinion.

Gharibabadi made it clear that the Zionist entity intentionally violates all international rules and norms by ignoring legitimate international and regional concerns. He reiterated that the immediate and unconditional accession of this entity to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in addition to subjecting all its materials, activities and installations to the comprehensive safety and security rules of the International Atomic Energy Agency are the only steps that could solve part of the ongoing nuclear crisis in the Middle East.

He pointed out that all the countries of the Middle East are members of the NPT except this entity which acquires secret nuclear capabilities that pose a serious threat to the security and stability of neighboring countries and the entire region.
